A Beautiful Intimate Wedding at Wigfair Hall with a Showstopping Grazing Table
Some weddings stay with you because they feel effortless, personal and full of warmth. Our recent visit to Wigfair Hall was exactly that!
It was a beautiful intimate wedding in a gorgeous setting, with a relaxed pace from start to finish. The couple wanted food that suited the feeling of the day: generous, sociable, colourful and easy for guests to enjoy without formality getting in the way. That brief led us to one of our favourite wedding set-ups, a full grazing table running down the centre of the marquee.
And it really did become the showstopper of the day.

Wigfair Hall made a lovely setting for an intimate celebration. It had that calm, tucked-away feeling that works so well for weddings where the focus is on good company, good food and taking the day at an easy pace.
Although it is a little outside our usual territory, it is exactly the sort of venue we would happily travel back to. Some places just feel right for the kind of food we love to create. Wigfair Hall was one of them.

The marquee gave us a brilliant blank canvas. It allowed the food to sit right at the heart of the celebration, without feeling too staged or formal. Guests could gather, chat, return for more and enjoy the table at their own pace.
That is one of the best things about grazing food at a wedding. It naturally creates movement. People do not feel fixed to one spot. They can discover different sections, choose what they fancy and enjoy the food as part of the atmosphere rather than a pause in the day.
Hot fried canapé cones to start the celebration
Before the grazing table took centre stage, we served hot fried canapé cones, which are always a big hit.
There is something about these little cones that just works. They feel relaxed but still fun, which makes them ideal for that in-between moment when guests have arrived, drinks are flowing and everyone is settling into the celebration.
Warm canapés also bring a lovely contrast before a grazing table. They give guests that first savoury bite, fresh from the fryer, while keeping the mood casual and sociable.

They are also brilliant for service. Guests can enjoy them while standing, talking and moving around. No awkward plates, no complicated cutlery, just something tasty and satisfying to begin the food side of the day.
For us, that is always the aim with canapés. They should feel generous and inviting, not fussy. They should get people smiling, talking and looking forward to what comes next.
Wigfair Hall may be a little out of our usual area, but we would head back in a flash. It is always worth the journey when a venue gives us the chance to create something that feels so right for the day.
A wedding like this is a reminder that food does not need to be overly formal to feel special. Sometimes the best moments happen when guests are gathered around a table, plate in hand, chatting, laughing and helping themselves to something delicious.
